I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Drink driving, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Road Safety: Drink Driving Concerns
Residents have raised concerns regarding suspected drink driving within Garstang. Feedback suggests there is a perception amongst some members of the community that offenders are unlikely to be detected, leading to concerns that drink driving may be occurring more frequently.
We take reports of drink and drug driving seriously due to the significant risk posed to road users and the wider community. Patrols will continue to proactively target the fatal four offences, including drink and drug driving, and officers will act on information received from the public.
If you suspect someone is driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, please report it. If the offence is ongoing and there is an immediate risk to the public, call 999. Information can also be provided via 101 when the incident is not occurring at the time of reporting.
We will continue to work towards keeping Garstang's roads safe and addressing the concerns raised by our community.
