Watching the England match tongiht? Keep your kitchen safe.

England are through to the knockout stage, and with today's match kicking off at 5pm, many of us will be thinking about tea while watching the game.

If you're planning to watch the football, let the cooking wait until half-time or after the match.

If you do need to cook, give your hob and oven your full attention.

Never leave cooking unattended – especially when using the hob, grill, oven, or air fryer.

It only takes a moment for a distraction to turn into a fire.

If a cooking fire starts:

Stay calm, leave the room and close the door behind you.

Get everyone out of the house.

Call 999 and ask for the fire brigade.

Stay outside until firefighters tell you it is safe to re-enter.

Never attempt to move a pan that's on fire – this is how many people suffer serious burns.

If your clothing catches fire, remember: Stop, Drop and Roll. This can help extinguish the flames quickly and reduce burns.

Whether you're cheering on England or cooking for the family, make sure you're doing one thing at a time.

Stay in the kitchen. Stay alert. Stay safe.
