We have written to you specifically because, unlike many other issues facing people older than yourself, we'd really like to draw your attention to the real and present dangers of “blind” swimming and diving in open waters, especially when those waters have been specifically identified as dangerous. A colleague of mine has asked me to share with you his sad experiences about young people, drowning in open water. You'll meet Sgt. Elliot Jones of Wyre in the video link below. You'll see children discussing the potential dangers of jumping into water, when you don't know what's beneath the surface, but you may NOT know about the effects of “cold shock” on the body. If this message makes just ONE young person decide NOT to jump into open water and saves ONE life, then this message will have done its job.
Be brave and do the right thing when tempted into swimming in open water
Watch the video and help keep you and your friends safe
Thank you
