Good afternoon, We have had several reports over the last few days of unknown males in the area acting suspiciously, knocking on doors and in some cases looking through windows. Our officers are aware and will be patrolling the area throughout the day and night. Please report suspicious activity on our website or call 101. If a crime is happening now, or there is a threat to life, dial 999. We would ask you to be vigilant and take steps to protect your property and your belongings. Please see below some tips on Crime Prevention. These tips can help you make your home less appealing to thieves. Hide all keys, including car keys, out of sight and away from the letterbox (remember a device could be used to hook keys through the letterbox). Consider window safety locks to add extra security to an open window while you are in the property. Fit an intruder alarm in a visible place and test it frequently. Make sure the fences are secure, and side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property. Not sure? Don’t open the door. Criminals make up stories to try to get into your home and distract your attention whilst they steal valuables or money. They may also keep you talking on your doorstep whilst an accomplice tries to gain access to your home via the back door. If you are planning on going away on holiday, please let your neighbours know so that they can keep an eye on your property. If possible, set a timer so that lights come on to give the impression of someone being at home.Light up, lock up: When you go out, leave a light on and remember to check your windows and doors are locked. Always lock your car and remove any valuables. Remember, do not leave your car unattended while your key is in the ignition. Consider fitting a security light at both the front and rear of the property. Rest assured we are working to keep you safe. Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team |
