childrens e- bikes

Good afternoon

We have been alerted about a matter of health and safety as the number of children's electric bikes, cars and scooters are making their way onto our roads.

We cannot reiterate enough how dangerous this is for both the children on them, the road users in vehicles and also for pedestrians.

Yes it is the summer holidays, and we understand children want to have fun and parents need a break, but these such items can only be used on private land. This includes the  space within your gardens, on farms and open land with land owners permission.

Although these vehicles may be sold by popular toy shop chains such items still need to be checked for good working condition by a means of MOT and need insurance.  As these mechanically propelled children's vehicles fall under the same legalities as any other e- bike / e-scooter the same rules apply. The attached posters explains the law and requirements on the matter.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in seizure of such items.

We cannot stress enough on the topic of how dangerous this may be for any children riding these on the same roads as cars, vans and lorries.

Thank you
