Commissioner scrutinises force performance at Accountability Board |
||
Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, has scrutinised the latest performance data from Lancashire Constabulary as part of his ongoing role in holding the Chief Constable to account. At June’s Accountability Board, Commissioner Grunshaw assessed Lancashire Constabulary’s performance across key areas including call handling, victim satisfaction, and outcomes for serious and violent crime. Reports provided to the meeting highlighted continued strong results in public contact and call response times, and came off the back of recent national statistics that found Lancashire to be one of the best performing forces for answering 101 calls. The Commissioner asked questions around crime data and how this is impacted by changes to recording for certain offences, queried progress being made against recommendations from His Majesty's Inspectorate in their report last year, and praised how technology is at the forefront of delivering value for money. The regular meetings form an important part of the Commissioner work as the public's voice in policing, alongside regular one-to-ones with the Chief Constable and wider work of his office, ensuring delivery of his Police and Crime Plan priorities. Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said: “The Accountability Board is a vital part of my role in ensuring the Constabulary is delivering for the people of Lancashire, alongside the wider work of my Office, all ultimately aimed at making communities safer and boosting public confidence. "I welcome the continued progress in key areas such as call handling and the work that is ongoing to deliver positive outcomes for victims of crime and take offenders off our streets. “As Commissioner I will always challenge where we need to go further to deliver the best possible service for the public. As we move forward and progress, through constant scrutiny and collaborative working, I will continue to ensure we drive improvements wherever we can. “I remain firmly committed to ensuring the Constabulary delivers on the priorities set out in my Police and Crime Plan —preventing violence against women and girls, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, getting tough on serious violence, and rebuilding public trust and confidence.” | ||
