Issues in your area

Good afternoon!

There are a couple of things for your attention this week -

Thefts from Motor Vehicles - we had an increase in reports of thefts from motor vehicles last week in Worsthorne. The vehicles are not reported to have been damaged, however items were taken from each of the cars, including camera equipment, a bag and tools. Please remember to keep valuables out of sight and your vehicles locked, even if you're only going to be away from it for a short time. If you have keyless entry on your vehicle, make sure your car keys are stored away from doors and windows (some people use Faraday pouches for their keys!).

Open water swimming - although the weather has taken a bit of a turn this week, please be mindful (and keep your young ones mindful) of the dangers of open water swimming. Sadly in Lancashire this last week we have heard the news of a young man who tragically lost his life after getting into difficulty in the River Wyre. Living so close to beautiful spots such as Hurstwood Reservoir may prove tempting as the weather gets warmer, but it's not worth the risk or danger. I attended Unity College with colleagues from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to chat to our youngsters about the risks.

As always, if there's anything you need to speak to us about that's concerning or you wish to report an incident that is not an emergency, please dial 101. As of yesterday, we have a new system in place when calling 101 to direct you to the help you need faster. In an emergency, always call 999.

Best wishes,

Em
