A positive update for a Sunday evening.
Over the past few weeks, residents across Hyndburn have reported a range of vehicle crime from personal possessions being stolen out of their cars, right up to their cars being stolen.
The Hyndburn Task Force team, in conjunction with the local Neighbourhood team, have been working diligently in the background to tackle this rise in vehicle crime. As a result of this, last night, officers were out in numbers across Hyndburn in both uniform and plain clothes walking through the hotspot areas to disrupt this activity.
At 00:47 this morning, officers stopped a vehicle on Thwaites Road in Oswaldtwistle with 4 males on board. In the car, officers found tools for cloning car keys and tools they believed would be used to commit vehicle crime. All 4 occupants of the car were arrested and transported to custody to be interviewed.
We can share with you that today that;
Have all been charged with going equipped to steal.
HUSSAIN, STENTON and ATKINSON were remanded in custody due to appear before the next court on Monday 28th APRIL 2025. KHAN will be appearing at Blackburn Magistrates court on 12th MAY 2025 With the added condition of not to return to Lancashire.
We will continue to tackle vehicle crime in Hyndburn, and we would encourage you to continue reporting any incidents to us so we can investigate.
Please can we also remind you to lock your vehicles overnight, it’s easy to forget but it’s the first line in keeping your vehicle and possessions safe.
