Good afternoon residents, We have had a busy October some of which are mentioned below. We have been continuing in our efforts to reduce the drugs related activity in the area. Following intelligence received we had cause to stop a male (25) on Cottam Avenue. Following a Sect 23 search under the misuse of Drugs Act of the male, we found a quantity of class A drugs. The male was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of class A drugs and will appear before the courts later this month. We also attended an address on New Rough Hey following up on enquiries and once inside located a large quantity of Nitrous Oxide Cannisters, other drugs paraphernalia and a cross bow. The cross bow was seized along with the drugs and the female occupant was issued a formal police caution. We continue to rely on the information you supply us, and we will act. If you want to report anonymously you can do so via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers Over the last month we have seen an increase in reported crimes including theft associated to the building sites in the area. During one of the offences at The Green on Tom Benson Way, a white / cream coloured mini was seen collecting rolled up copper that was left bagged up tucked away out of sight. We ask you to be extra vigilant. We shall continue with our increased patrols but if you do see any suspicious vehicles of note that appear to be parked up, loitering etc, then please let the local neighbourhood team know. We continue working with our partners to tackle the local issues. This month we have worked closely with Community Gateway and assisted in mediation between two residents around the WORTHING ROAD area who reported numerous offences against each other. Various referrals and support have been put in place which will hopefully see a reduction in calls to service and further issues. Your local team have been busy policing the recent festivities of Halloween and Bonfire Night. Other than a small number of reports on Halloween of Firework nuisance with youths around Tanterton Playing Field the events passed peacefully and were enjoyed by many. Thank you for the warm welcome when we visited Pool House Primary and Ingol Primary School functions. Next week sees our bi-yearly week of Action to target Knife Crime. We shall be visiting the local schools and conducting inputs on the dangers of such weapons and the legalities of carrying a knife. We shall be conducting knife sweeps in grassed areas for any hidden or disposed of. If you have any knives in your homes that you require disposing of then just let the local team know. We can happily collect and safety dispose of them in one of our many Amnesty Boxes. The local ones in Preston are situated at Preston Police Station, by Newman College on Larkhill Street and by the roundabout at the Gammel Pub (by the shops)
Following recent reports from neighbours on TAG CROFT and WESTBROOK CRESCENT of antisocial behaviour including verbal abuse, noise and threats, we have been working closely with our housing partner Gateway and Places for People. Two tenants believed to be involved and responsible have been dealt with. One has been placed on an ABC (acceptable behaviour contract) and whilst another adult male has been issued a CPW (community protection warning) We will not stand back and do nothing whilst people are being subjected to ASB. Please continue to report incidents of nuisance. Upcoming dates for the diary
Hope to see you all at tonight’s PACT meeting. It is at 6.30pm at Tanterton Village Centre and everyone will be welcome. Take care PC Jenny, PCSO Jules, PCSO Martin | ||||
