Local and Relevant

Dear Residents,

The local neighbourhood team have been made aware by people in your community that there is an event organised (unofficially) for Saturday 2nd November to celebrate bonfire night.

We are aware that there is a large interest within the community for this to go ahead. Something which will inspire community spirit, bring people together and encourage celebrations, if done with consideration.

We would like to remind residents that the event is a great opportunity to bring everyone together but we would also like to remind everyone to take care of yourselves and those around you. Ensuring that those handling the fireworks are of age to do so and are also in a capacity to do so in a safe way.

We are in conversations internally and with partner agencies to ensure that the event is on everyone's radar and that if we need to effectively respond we can do. I will also remind you that if incidents are reported during the evening those involved will be dealt with robustly.

This time of year can also be triggering for those with mental health concerns and in particular PTSD, I would like to ask residents to be aware of this and keep this in mind when taking part in the occasion.

As many of you know, this time of year can be extremely demanding on all branches of emergency services and I would like to encourage everyone to look out for each other attending and involved.

Enjoy however you might celebrate the upcoming events.

All the best and see you out on the ‘Beat’.
