Good morning,

As promised I can now update you regarding the man who was arrested for the burglary offences in Padiham.

He has been assessed by mental health professionals in custody and detained under the mental health act for a period of time up to 6 months.

The investigation is still ongoing in relation to the burglary offences but we cannot consider proceeding until he has finished treatment for his mental health condition(s) and an assessment is made about if he had the relevant capacity at the time of the offences.

Please be assured we are taking the matter seriously and the decision has been made by qualified mental health practitioners and doctors.
